Assignment 21

For the second book of the semester, I am writing about Peter Drucker's book Innovation and Entrepreneurship. As the title suggests, the book discussed Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the business world. However, while the introduction seemed to focus more deeply on the extent to which the economy affects these two factors, the book later transitioned to a more in depth discussion of how they are affected by society in general. Much of what Drucker talked about in his book correlate with what we talk about in class. For example, he discusses the importance of starting small before starting big, and how to become an effective leader as an entrepreneur. A suggestion for an activity the class could do would be come up with 3 of the most specific niche markets that exist in Gainesville today. I was pretty surprised when Drucker mentioned that that these formulas apply not only to small start up corporations, but large corporations as well.

  2. Hey Nick,
It is interesting to see innovation and entrepreneurship being affected by the economy. I had thought that both of these, especially entrepreneurship, was more on the personal level and derived from an individual's effort. After reading your post, I can see how the economy can prevent or promote innovation in a country. One way I see is an economic expansion demanding more skilled workers to make innovation for a firm.
